Tulia citizens are voluntarily correcting existing violations on their properties. Officers report that approximately forty cases have been opened in the past three months and over 85% have been cleared through voluntary compliance. No citations have been issued for parking on unimproved surfaces or in front yards, and none have been written for weeds or cleaning violations. Officer Suriano says, “Citizens are complying and it makes our jobs much easier. Fewer people are parking in their front yards, and they mowing and removing trash and debris from their property. Citizens are showing that they care about the image of our town by voluntarily complying with our city codes and ordinances.”

The Tulia Citizens Working for Tulia group is offering help for elderly or physically handicapped citizens who are unable to keep their property clean and mowed. Suriano said, “Tulia is a community that we can all be proud of. We appreciate the cooperation and efforts of our citizens in promoting Tulia pride.” For more information on the Assistance provided by Tulia Citizens Working for Tulia, contact the Tulia Police Department Code Enforcement Division at (806) 995-3555.
